In just three seasons, Leon Rice earned Boise State an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. Coach Rice's recipe for success combines an up-tempo, fast-paced offense with tremendous defensive pressure.

Join Coach Rice as he unveils his high-tempo workouts in this All Access Practice set from Championship Productions. Coach Rice shares his daily practice structure then heads to the court to create basketball chaos and a game-like atmosphere in three live sessions.

Practice 1 Watch as Coach Rice's team plays full-court basketball with an emphasis on both transition offense and defense. Practice begins by introducing new full-court presses on defense and reviewing set plays and ball screen offense. You'll see how the Bronco's full-court attack is built using drills that focus on scoring in advantage situations and breaking full-court pressure. The emphasis in the half-court offense is on limiting turnovers and ball movement through scrimmage drills. Defensively, hustling back and communicating in transition to get organized is emphasized with a series of breakdown drills and controlled scrimmages.

Practice 2 Practice 2 begins with a film review of man-to-man offense from the prior day's practice. On the court, action begins with a review of man-to-man offensive sets. Next, two late-clock, baseline, out-of-bounds plays are reviewed. Individual work incorporates attacking a switching defense. The team then runs through more 4-around-1 offense 5-on-0 and 5-on-5. Defense then becomes the focus with a variety of competitive drills including 1-on-1 first step defense, classic shell, shell drill with recovery, protect the paint 3-on-3, jump to ball 3-on-3, and cut-throat defense. A team shooting drill completes practice.

Practice 3 In the final disc of the series, the Boise State Broncos open up their playbook even further. You'll get a firsthand look as Coach Rice's team runs through their sets against a man-to-man defense in a 5 vs 0 setting. The Boise State system features great spacing on the offensive end and showcases a variety of ball screens and dribble hand-offs. He also reviews the Broncos' early offense, which involves transition ball screens or "drag" movements. The team goes through a special situation where one group trails by two points with the ball to be inbounded along the sideline. You'll pick up two simple sets that can be run in this scenario. Transition defense and stopping the basketball on the move is a major emphasis in this practice session. Boise State uses multiple drills to stress getting back and not allowing easy baskets. Finally, you'll see a team video session where the coaching staff points out the good and some areas that need improvement from the previous practice session.

360 minutes (3 DVDs). 2014.
